Moses Leads God's People

Exodus 14:14

👂 Listen to the Story

Raised in Pharaoh's palace after being rescued from a basket on the Nile, Moses fled to Midian after defending a Hebrew slave. There God called him from a burning bush to lead Israel out of Egypt. Through ten plagues, the Passover, the parting of the Red Sea, and the giving of the Law at Sinai, Moses became one of the greatest leaders in Scripture.

"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

— Exodus 14:14

Baby in a Basket

Baby Moses is hidden in a basket on the Nile

God's people were slaves in Egypt, and the mean king Pharaoh made a terrible rule: all baby Hebrew boys were to be thrown in the river! A brave mother hid her baby for three months. When she couldn't hide him anymore, she made a little basket boat, put her baby inside, and set it among the reeds by the river. The baby's sister watched to see what would happen.
