Matthew 28:6
👂 Listen to the Story
After His crucifixion, Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb sealed with a great stone and guarded by soldiers. On the third day — Sunday morning — the women found the tomb empty and angels proclaiming the resurrection. The risen Jesus appeared to His disciples and many witnesses, conquering death and offering eternal life to all who believe.
"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said."
— Matthew 28:6
Jesus dies and is laid in a tomb
Some people who didn't like Jesus did something very sad. They hurt Jesus, and He died on a cross, even though He had only ever loved and helped people. Jesus' friends were heartbroken. A kind man named Joseph took Jesus' body and laid it in a new tomb cut out of rock. Then they rolled a huge, heavy stone in front of the door. Everyone was so sad.
